“To Honour The Horse”
By Evelyn Kleis
My life has been shaped by horses. From childhood to the present, I have lived alongside them, drawn to their beauty, strength and spirit.
With each painting, I began from this collection, I rarely started with a fixed image. Instead, I carried with me a deep visual memory, one informed not only by lived experience, but also by thousands of years of artistic depictions of the horse, from prehistoric cave paintings to ancient and modern interpretations.
My process begins intuitively. I sketch loose sweeping lines, allowing movement to guide me rather than structure. From there, I build the image with brush and colour, responding as the work unfolds. The result is often unexpected. The horses emerge within dreamlike, mysterious spaces… realms where they roam freely, prance with playfulness, or stand in quiet, magisterial presence. through these images, I aim to honour not just the physical form of the horse, but also its enduring spirit.
Material exploration plays an important role in my work. I have used oil paint, oil pastels, spray paint and collage, allowing each medium to contribute its own texture and energy.
My earliest experiences with art began at the farm kitchen table. Those moments, often shared with my mother, instilled in me a lasting love of making art. I remember the quiet satisfaction of completing a drawing and her gentle encouragement, even when I could not yet see myself as an artist.
This collection spans the past 20 years and reflects an evolving relationship with the horse as subject. My earlier works tend toward a more realistic interpretation of form, while later pieces moved into a more expressive and symbolic language. Travel has also shaped my visual vocabulary. A significant influence came from visiting Venice, where I encountered the bronze horses of St Mark’s Basilica. Their scale, power and presence left a lasting impression.
In my collaged works incorporating gold foil, I reference not only their historical and cultural resonance and how the carries meaning across time and space.
Ultimately, my work exists at the intersection of memory, history and imagination. The horse, as both a personal companion and an enduring artistic symbol becomes a way to reflect on the past while continuing to explore new visual possibilities.

“Remembrance”
By Jackie DeBlasio
This body of work explores the quiet return to our truest essence, which has
always been present beneath the noise of our daily lives.
Remembrance, therefore, is not about becoming something new. It is about uncovering what was never lost, obscured, and layered over by expectation, experience, and the gradual shaping of the roles we play day to day.
Each piece emerges through an intuitive and responsive process.
Rather than constructing an image, I work in conversation with what begins to surface, allowing form and texture to reveal themselves over time. The figures that arise exist in a space between visibility and dissolution, where boundaries soften and something more essential comes forward.
There is a tension within the work between structure and surrender, holding and releasing. Layers are built and removed, obscured and uncovered. This process echoes how we move through our own internal landscapes. What remains is not a fixed identity, but a felt sense of self that is fluid, evolving, and deeply personal.
Remembrance invites a slower way of being.
The work is not meant to be immediately understood. It is meant to be experienced and sat with long enough for something internal to respond. Viewers often find themselves reflected within the pieces. They encounter moments of recognition, release, or quiet clarity.
At its core, this collection is about returning.
Returning to the body.
Returning to feeling.
Returning to who we are beneath what we’ve learned to be.
Not as a destination, but as an ongoing, living process.

The Collection
SOVEREIGN WOMAN
She stands within her own authority fully embodied. There is no force here, only a deep knowing of self. This is what it means to belong fully to who you are.

RETURN TO SELF
There is a quiet homecoming here. Layers begin to soften and what remains is something more honest and familiar. This is the moment you come back to yourself without needing to be anything else.
41”×67”
TIMELESS WISDOM
The ancient within her is steady and unshaken, not learned but instead remembered. A quiet intelligence that’s always been present, waiting to be trusted.
41”x67”
ETERNAL FLAME
A steady inner fire that cannot be extinguished by change or circumstance continues to burn. This is the life force that remains no matter what has been shed.

GROUNDED TRUTH
She nolonger searches for clarity, but instead, she stands within it. There is weight here and rooted presence that does not waiver. Truth is nolonger something to find but something to live.

VIBRANT ESSENCE
There is a fullness to her now. She is expressive, alive and uncontained. Nothing is held back and nothing is dimmed. This is what it looks like when essence is allowed to move freely.
